As a congregation, we are made up of people just like you. When you come through the doors, you will encounter people from all walks of life, walking in from all different directions. The unique make-up of First Church allows us to reach out to different sectors of the city with a message of hope that we believe will change lives.

Our Mission

"Sharing Hope and Changing Lives" are words you'll hear a lot around this Community of Hope. This mission is accomplished through the presentation of a gospel that is timeless and true. However, the method that we use for presentation is culturally relevant and people-friendly. When you come share your spiritual lives with us, we hope that you get the sense that you matter to us more than tradition. Our desire is to help you to cultivate the person that God has called you to be.

Our Agreed Statement of Beliefs

These are the beliefs Nazarenes hold to be true:

We believe in one God-the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.

We believe that man is born with a fallen nature, and is, therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually.

We believe that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost.

We believe that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin.

We believe that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.

We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.

Our DREAM

We believe that all life flows from the river of God's grace. It is God's DREAM in Jesus Christ that we experience the fullness and abundance, the healing and reconciliation, the mission and vision of God in every aspect of our lives.

It is our hope as a staff and leadership team to help facilitate the fullness of Christ in your life by identifying the necessary components of your journey of faith. We want to help you avoid getting too involved in too many things in the church that keep your life out of balance.

Our Heritage

As a Church we have the privilege of being a part of a much bigger body than simply this local congregation in Clarksville, Tennessee. The Nazarene Denomination has a worldwide impact preaching the gospel of Jesus. Located in over 140 countries with nearly 800 missionaries, we have a membership of over 1 million people. Nearly anywhere you go in the world you will have the opportunity to experience the fellowship of believers that will welcome you with open arms. We also have several institutions of higher learning, including Trevecca Nazarene University, located just south of us in the heart of Nashville.
